Apple Updates Bootcamp to Version 6

Apple continues to expand their echo system while enabling business owners to use their OSX OS in the office environment to seamlessly launch Windows. Microsoft seems to be playing nice, too. This month we witnessed an update to Microsoft Office with their new 2016 edition only for Mac users. The update gives those not willing to install Windows 10 on their Mac the latest features of Office 365 , in particular SharePoint compatibility which was missing in the previous Microsoft Office 2011.

So what’s changed?

Apple’s released their latest version of its multi-boot utility, Boot Camp 6, on Thursday. It now fully supports newly-released Windows 10 (64-bit edition only) as well as USB 3, USB-C, Thunderbolt, SD and SDXC connections. Users will need to be running OS X Yosemite and have an authentic copy of Windows 10 installed on a separate partition. That includes the 13- and 15-inch MBPs, 11- and 13-inch MBAs, MacBook, MacMini, and various iMacs; including the 5k Retina edition. Users don’t actually have to do anything to get the update, as it will download automatically if you’re already running the latest rev of Boot Camp 5. This update also fixes the graphic driver issue on 5k Retina iMacs running AMD Radeon’s R9 M290x 2G DDR5 & R9 M295x 4G DDR5 graphic cards. However, don’t expect to see native 5k resolutions in Windows 10. You’ll have to settle for 3840 x 2160 4k resolution. Still a beautiful user experience.
