Smart Homes Low Voltage Automation and Integration Senior Installer

Location:  Hiring for multiple locations: Okemos, Traverse City and Midland, MI.

Description:  The Smart Homes Low Voltage Automation Senior Installer will install and maintain advanced automation and A/V systems throughout Michigan. Qualified applicants will be experienced in the installation, troubleshooting, and service of low voltage residential audio, video, telephone, and lighting systems. Perform comprehensive, on-site audiovisual equipment installation for our clients, including low voltage wiring, trim-out, equipment rack setup, satellite, telephone systems, plasma/LCD, projectors and projection systems, media rooms, audio hardware and speakers, control systems, and some programming based on experience and other tasks as related to an install. Project management and design skills are a plus as well as experience with Crestron, AMX and Control 4.

Responsibilities for this role include performing the following duties:

  • Understand programs for A/V and automation equipment
  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications equipment as required when commissioning projects
  • Update code and test systems when new releases are required
  • Ability to lead a team of installation technicians
  • Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform service
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.

Requirements:  The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include (items are required unless noted otherwise):

  • Training and knowledge in low voltage control systems
  • Previous customer support and Automation / A/V experience
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of commercial and residential audio, video and videoconferencing systems along with general wiring, rack building, general & specific assembly, hands-on, electronic testing skills required.
  • Experience in programming in Crestron, Control4, AMX, Savant and/or Lutron products.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Specific certifications from automation vendors a plus but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with clients and colleagues
  • Strong work ethic, trustworthy and dependable
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work effectively and efficiently alone or with a team to meet deadlines

Automation Programmer

We have an immediate opening for a full time position for an Automation Programmer.  In this position, you will provide design and program support to successfully develop and improve software systems, including tablet deployments to be used in small to medium-sized companies.  You will also provide assistance to engineering and sales staff in tasks, including development and updates for existing ERP program, research, customer support, web deployment, IPAD deployment and other related tasks.

Location: Hiring for multiple locations: Okemos, Traverse City and Midland, MI.

Primary functions will include, but are not limited to:

  • Help design and develop software for small to medium-sized businesses.  This will include web based and PC based programs.  Languages include VBA, MVC3, SQL and MS Access DB’s will be used.
  • Support current and future customer needs for web, program debugging and user training.
  • Occasionally meet with customers and prospects to discuss new projects.
  • Work on special projects as they relate to the position.
  • Meet customer and internal deadlines.
  • Competent to work most phases of application systems analysis / programming activities.

Job Qualifications

Low Voltage Automation and Integration Engineer / Technician

We have an immediate opening for a full time position for a Low Voltage Automation and Integration Engineer / Technician. Smart Homes designs, installs and services seamlessly integrated Computer, Network, Lighting, Security, HVAC control and A/V systems for homes and businesses. In this position, you will design, develop, program, install and train customers on advanced automation and A/V systems throughout Michigan.

Location: Hiring for multiple locations: Okemos, Traverse City and Midland, MI.

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, program, install and upgrade A/V and automation equipment.
  • Install low voltage cabling and distribution hardware.
  • Program, configure and test TCIP and low voltage networks.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment, including A/V equipment and automation equipment
  • Service equipment according to maintenance schedule
  • Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs

Job Qualifications:

  • Advanced training and knowledge in low voltage control systems and system requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and timelines in a team setting.

  • Knowledge of A/V hardware and software obtained from factory level training.
  • Crestron, Control4, Savant, Lutron, Vantage, and RTI experience and factory certification.
  • Excellent skills with hand tools and equipment to complete these job activities.
  • Computer skills including MAC and PC experience required.
  • Ability to determine formats, approaches, content, levels and mediums to effectively meet objectives within budgetary constraints, utilizing research, knowledge and training.
  • Ability to develop manuals, texts, workbooks or related materials for use in conjunction with training of customers.

Lead Information Technology System Support & Development Technician

We have an immediate opening for a full time position for a Lead Information Technology System Support & Development Technician.  Smart Offices performs on-site computer equipment repair, network configuration and software support throughout Michigan.  In this position, you will design, develop, program, install and educate customers on computer equipment, networks and provide software support throughout Michigan.  You will also lead and train other technicians as required.

Location: Hiring for multiple locations: Okemos, Traverse City and Midland, MI.

Primary functions will include, but are not limited to:

  • Design networks and select correct hardware and software for applications.  Install and upgrade computers, servers, and peripherals.
  • Install network cabling, switches, routers, wireless access points and bridges.
  • Relocate, transport and bench test computer hardware, peripherals and equipment as needed.
  • Install and configure Windows / Apple software as needed.
  • Service and update equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
