From Bose and Denon to Raumfeld and Devialet, everyone in hi-fi now makes a wireless speaker. Can any beat Sonos?

In today’s technologically advanced world of internet, music, and speakers, long gone are the jumble of cords and wires around the house and the dissatisfaction of only having music in one room. Now, with new wireless speakers, music can fill your entire home with clear, crisp sound without all the setup frustration and hassle. However, the issue now is the amount of options available and which one will give you the best bang (or boom) for your buck.

Each wireless speaker system was tested under 4 categories; how easy to operate, streaming services, sound quality, and how easy the systems were able to expand.

Ease of use:

Most wireless speaker systems have apps that are confusing, lack user friendliness, or are just flat out slow but Sonos, Denon, and Bose took top three.

Sonos has a very reliable app that makes it easy to get your music including an extremely robust music library. Denon and Bose have other simplistic features that help provide effortless gratification. Denon has the easiest setup, plugging your phone into the speaker just once to create a connection, and Bose staying with standard buttons for radio presets and easy access playlists when there’s no time to mess with an app.

Streaming Services:

Wireless system’s streaming services’ seem to be one of the biggest challenges when you take away the direct connection of a chord or CD. It seems as though the only speaker that has it all is Sonos, with around 40 different services and especially considering the fact that they will now support Apple Music. Many other systems are missing some of the essentials like Pandora or Spotify.

Sound Quality:

Don’t let prices fool you on the sound quality, Samsung’s $500 R7 was “just OK” whereas the $300 Sonos Play:3 and Denon Heos 5 were proven better due to more bass and crisper sound. The more expensive the better definitely does not apply in the wireless speaker category anymore. Don’t settle for the cheapest option though expecting it to sound like a high-quality brand. The Phorus PS5 goes for only $230 but does not come close to the excellence of higher brands.

Expanding Ease:

Usually, once you buy one, you end up wanting bigger and better wireless speakers and not to mention for every room in the house! The best systems usually have a wide assortment of speakers that range in price, look, sound, and style.

Sonos, Denon, and Bose all create great multi-set speaker systems for any room size and type. Create a perfect, customized sound system in each room of your house.

Now it’s time for you to be the critic, can any of these other wireless speaker systems beat Sonos and all it has to offer?
