Rob Nichols Sales Engineer
Rob joined Smart Homes, Inc. in May. As a Sales Engineer, Rob works closely with clients to identify their technology needs and serves as a liaison between customers and our design & installation teams to ensure their vision is realized.
Before joining Smart Homes, Rob enjoyed a successful career as a field representative for an automotive technology company. Rob also served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years as a radar technician responsible for maintaining aircraft communications, navigation, and radar systems. After his years of service, he obtained a BA in Business. With his diverse technology and business background, Rob brings a wealth of experience to the team and we’re thrilled to have him on board!
In his free time, you’ll find Rob, his wife, Ann, and his son Sam volunteering at the Cristo Rey Community Center in Lansing where they help organize and serve holiday meals, or at the Peoples Church in East Lansing, where Rob is Head Usher. Reading, history, art and music are just a few of Rob’s passions. A true audiophile, Rob enjoys music of all types, from heavy metal to string quartets. He believes all music sounds a little better with one of Michigan’s award-winning craft beers, especially if it’s an IPA.

When our team found out we were providing the technology for the new Klavon’s Pizzeria & Pub (known as K2), they were thrilled about working on such a fun project—and the pizza, of course.
If the LED lighting doesn’t capture your attention, the 54 featured TVs, including a TV chandelier and individual booth TVs are sure to pull you in with their dazzling HD picture quality. The system automatically turns on the TVs and sets the default HD stations for the displays.

From an operations perspective, the real star of the show is the control system. Fully integrated audio, video, lighting and security are easily managed through an intuitive, customized touch screen menu on an in-wall touch panel, iPads or tablets.
The integrated lighting program has an astrological clock that automatically adjusts the lighting throughout the day and according to seasonal lighting needs. In addition, the multi-camera security system can be accessed remotely 24-7 for easier monitoring.

On Saturday, June 14th, Smart Homes/Smart Offices hosted its first interactive, open house event, where visitors could experience first-hand the products and services we offer. Video conferencing, distributed audio and video, lighting control, smart building access, security and networking solutions were featured in our showroom.
Movie enthusiasts were blown away by the 75″ Samsung 4K HD TV that brings theater-quality resolution right into your home. Even without 3D, the color, clarity and depth of the picture is truly stunning–producing a real, almost multidimensional quality to the image on the screen.
The Sonos Wiresless Sound System was a hit with audiophiles interested in bringing integrated audio to their home through a reliable WiFi source. Visitors interested in the Samsung 4K TV also liked the the ability to pair Sonos rear speakers and a sub with the playbar to enhance their viewing experience with immersive, theater-quality, surround sound.
