Smart Homes Smart Offices of Lansing, Michigan and Active Thermal Management specializes in solutions that effectively cool and ventilate A/V systems in both residential and commercial applications. With the rise of technology and the creation of numerous components in the home or business, the need for efficient and quiet ventilation has also risen. Active Thermal Management has been in business since 1999, and has a vast range of products to provide projects of any size with quiet cooling systems.
The best energy-efficient and cost effective way to cool your home or business is with ventilation, when combined with methods to eliminate heat buildup. Sometimes natural ventilation, the process of supplying air to and from an indoor space without using mechanics, is enough for cooling a space. More than likely some ceiling fans, window fans or spot ventilation will also need to be used to provide fresh air. Fresh air is required in any environment to eliminate odors, and to provide oxygen and optimal comfort. In an environment with no air flow or proper ventilation a hazardous, stagnant situation can develop.
In a room with many components, wires, servers and more, overheating becomes an issue. Overheating is the number one reason many electronics quite working. Overheating will cause your expensive electronic components to work less reliably and shortens their life span. Often times the room you want the coolest, like a home theater, becomes the warmest because of all the components installed in the same area. Many large, high powered systems, such as a home theater system, convert their power into heat. This heat, produced by the systems themselves, can also kill them if not properly ventilated. The solution is to draw from the cool air in the room while simultaneously distributing the warm air to someplace else, using a strategic ventilation system. Special cabinets are used to house electric components which allows for the unimpeded release of hot air. In a cabinet based system the most important element to keeping your electronic components cool is airflow. A constant stream of inbound cool air, and outbound warm air is how a ventilation system keeps the component’s temperature low.
